Persuade the publishers of ‘Magneto Testament’ to change its cover. The new cover should be an existing page of the graphic novel. It could be a single or double page spread.
You have 4-5 minutes to convince the publishers that your chosen page is the best choice for the novel’s cover.
Record your speech using audacity, garage band or other recording software of your choice.
In your argument you should:
· Summarise the story (15-20 seconds)
· Identify exactly where the new cover page comes from (10-15 seconds)
· Explain in detail why this page would be a great new cover for ‘Magneto Testament’. You must give three reasons with supporting evidence. (90-100 seconds)
· Analyse how the visual techniques impact target readers of the text, and contribute to the page being an effective cover (120 -150 seconds). You must analyse at least 4 of the following techniques in your speech:
colour
vector
foreground/dominant images/size
use of speech or dialogue (if any)
framing/gutters/lines
camera angles and shot.
· A summary statement to finalise your argument to the publishers (10-15 seconds).
